Portrait workspace layout?

PostWed Sep 05, 2018 5:20 pm

Does DaVinci Resolve support re-organizing the panes in the window to fit a portrait monitor? I realize that orientation isn't common in the NLE world--however for IDEs and editors, it's pretty common to be able to drag the panes around and put them one on top of each other instead of side-by-side.

It's a pain to flip my monitor every time I want to use Resolve. Most of the time, I'm writing code and and the portrait orientation works best for that. I can only drive a single external monitor and doing video editing on my Mac laptop's 11" screen isn't ideal.

Not up to the present... and not in the development pipeline as far as I know. The UI is not renowned for its flexibility in custom layout - (approximately zero) except for a couple of floating panes like the scopes.

A lot of operators like using the Preview window as their grading reference, which is anathema to its purpose and design philosophy, but whatevs... portrait would be an advantage for those who shoot their iPhone documentaries in that aspect ratio, so I expect it will make its way up the priority list.
