Fusion GUI issues

PostFri Sep 07, 2018 9:56 pm

During the Beta phase I used fusion to create this stunning trailer with highly complex composites and text. Now in this film I'm trying to work on since the full release came out, this is all I see when I jump into fusion. In this case I'm literally only trying to create end credits... text. I can usually restart Resolve and get the GUI to fix itself to a useable state, then I go to create another fusion clip for the next title and move from edit back to fusion and once more it returns to this. Why was the beta fine and fun, but this is just a pain. I just spent 2hrs with a director sitting here trying to get the credits made with him, and ended up running out of time because I have to restart every single time I add the next credit.

Some specs on my machine for reference:

2x E5 2670 v1 Xeon
128gb ddr3 ram
gtx 1070
10gb connection to media

The only difference between the beta and this is that I removed a 2nd 1070 to put it in another machine.

One thing you might try is export the entire background as a color-corrected plate, then start a separate session just for the Fusion titles and then start working on the composites. That way, you're not trying to deal with what's happening on the color correction page and Fusion together.

Igor Riđanović has a very good YouTube tutorial on how to do scrolling end credits in Fusion:

Good tutorial Marc,

I just tried what you suggested, starting a whole new project from scratch, I still end up with the weird black areas that make fusion unusable for me. I've tried different combinations in the configuration panel in preferences, increase decrease fusion allocated ram, run fusion on cpu only, enable disable display gpu for compute, I continually at some point end up with an unusable fusion page. The only thing left for me to try is a new install of windows and resolve, unless someone has any better ideas?
