Nothing appears in source viewer windows

PostMon Aug 27, 2018 10:09 pm

Hey all - curious if this has come up for anyone else - no luck finding a similar situation in search.

I'd been using Davinci Resolve for a while with my BMMCC for small personal projects - had no issues with the software until updating past 12.5. Other work/obligations have kept me away from needing it since, but ever since installing v14 (and now 15) I've had the same problem - I can import media, but the video itself never will play in any of the source viewers. Most of my BMMCC footage is Raw 3:1, and it all shares this problem. Prores footage, or footage from another camera crashes Resolve entirely when opened.

Quirks when opening Raw footage:
- the footage successfully displays/is viewable within the thumbnails in Resolve - you can scrub through it by moving the mouse across the thumbnail with no issue
- file name successfully appears above Source Viewer when double-clicked on/opened
- audio plays as normal for the files, can scrub through it like normal
- can mark in/out and bring portions of each file into an edit (still can't see the footage via viewers on the edit or other screens)
- can color correct each bit that is in the edit (just can't see any of the corrections in the viewers)
- also have same issue with Raw footage from the Ursa Mini Pro
- etc.

Computer should be more than able to handle the footage. Have tried uninstalling/reinstalling completely across multiple versions.

Anyway, have spent a handful of hours at this point poking around with no luck and hoping someone on here might have a solution or suggestion. Hoping I'm missing something obvious here...

Thanks!

Can you tell us about your computer nevertheless? GPU in particular, OS too?

Hi there

Got the same issue, that sometimes nothing will play in the source monitor even though you double click a clip on the timeline.

On my system this is reproduceable if ctrl+F (full screen viewer) is activated and de activated a couple of times. Footage is iPhone 6s mp4 files in 4k
Windows 10 Pro, 64 GB ram, Intel core i7 6 core at 5ghz, NVIDIA gtx1080ti 11GB vram. Davinci Resolve Studio and Fusion Studio

Is your footage constant or variable frame rate?

Hi all - appreciate the responses and apologies for not getting back in a timely manner.

I'm working on a PC - it's a Dell XPS Tower - running Windows 10, Intel i7-7700K CPU, 16GB RAM, GeForce GTX 1070.

Constant vs Variable frame rate doesn't seem to make a difference.

Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated! Thanks -
