PostWed Sep 05, 2018 4:53 pm

How do I delete (or save over) a keyboard shortcuts preset?

Under User Prefs -> Keyboard Mapping, go over to the bottom of the window where it says "Save," "Import," and "Export." To save your custom keyboard settings, just hit save. To export them, hit the Export button and choose a destination for the text file. I usually hang on to a set of my custom keyboard settings so that when I go to another facility, I can add my own settings for certain things in Resolve that I need every day.

Thanks, Marc.

I'm actually looking to overwrite one of the options on the dropdown list. Any ideas?

they are text files, and you can edit them in a text editor all day long, delete them as you wish

but why delete a default template when it's so easy to make a layout of one's chooseing and have Resolve open that instead of the default on bootup?

i've not use the default mapping for years now, once in a while i need to import my backed up mapping, when installing a new version, maybe once or twice in the last few years

i keep my temeplates on a server as i have several machines and want them all to use the same layout

If you try editing a default preset, when we ship a new version, the defaults will be changed.. i suggest making a new one.

I wasn't trying to do anything to one of the default presets, I'm talking about an already created user preset.

I wanted to start from scratch and create a new preset with the same name as my old preset, but I can't figure out how.

At present you can't create a new user preset based on a previous user preset, except by editing a text export, renaming it and then importing. The "save as" option is only available to the 4 default keyboards.

Thanks, John.

I don't want the new user preset to be "based on" the old user preset. I just want it to have the same name.

That's why I was asking how do I delete old user presets?

Look at it this way.

Say I run some training for Resolve on my machine. Each trainee creates their own keyboard shortcut preset as part of the lessons. Training is now over and I want to get rid of those user presets without reinstalling Resolve from scratch.

How?

What happens if you load the standard Resolve presets, then save it as a New Preset but give it the name of the old Preset? That will overwrite it with the old preset keyset.

If you want to just delete them, period, as for a class, I would use one of those utilities that wipes the entire drive and restores a mirrored copy of the original boot drive the way it was at the start of the day. I know several tech schools and colleges that do this in classrooms so that every computer in the room is exactly the same every day.

Loading the unwanted preset and hitting the "delete set" button"? The one right above "save"?

I am forced to choose a different name. That's why I was asking how to delete user presets.
