Audio not playing from certain tracks + workaround

PostMon Sep 24, 2018 6:42 pm

I don't expect this to provoke much discussion, but I wanted to post it here as a workaround for anyone who might go googling a solution to this problem.

Resolve 15.0.0.086
Mac OS 10.13.4
4.2 GHz Intel Core i7

Issue: certain (mono) audio tracks in a timeline do not output to the master bus (tracks 2 and 3, in this case). When soloing the tracks, you can see the audio on the track monitor, but this isn't reflected in the Main 1 bus output. Therefore, audio exists, but you'll have no way to hear these tracks.

The sequence in question consisted of a Multicam clip linked to 5 mono tracks of audio from a single wav file.

Checking the bus assignments, it's clear that both tracks 2 and 3 (and in fact, all tracks) should be routing to the single main bus, so that's not the issue. Restarting does not fix it. Changing audio output settings does not fix it.

Fix: changing the track type of the affected audio track(s) to stereo/adaptive/anything else, and then returning them to mono seems to fix the problem.

Sidenote: For some reason, my tracks in the Edit panel for this sequence now read Audio 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6; in the Fairlight panel they read Audio 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5. I don't think this will pose much of an issue. It's quite odd, though.
