There's a live preview option which you can deselect. It's the three dot icon (next to the magnifying glass icon) near the top left of your screen (once you have the LUTs option selected).

Now that I've disconnected live preview too, I can be more specific about what I'd personally appreciate in the end, which turns out to be a mix between existing live preview and ... nothing :) : I'd love to see the LUT being applied when hovered, but on the still image of the preview only, with no playback of the preview image when the mouse moves...

I am just wondering how to have this off by default? Each time I boot up resolve the setting turns itself on again.

Walter is very wise.

mattfezz wrote:I am just wondering how to have this off by default? Each time I boot up resolve the setting turns itself on again.

I solve this by building empty "template" sessions that has all the modes arranged exactly the way I want, the bin structure pre-built, timelines partly built (for ongoing projects that don't change too much), and so on. Then when I start a new project, I open one of the templates, "save as" with the name of the new client/project, then start importing all the media, conforming the material, then color-correcting it. And Live Preview is one of those things I generally turn off.

Ahh thanks Marc!

I just saved the current config as the user default and live preview now defaults too off when I start a new project.

If I thought it would do any good, I would start a GoFundMe to bribe the BMD programming team with $1000 to keep Live Preview turned off until it's turned on. The default mode should always be off, IMHO.

Hi! I'd like to revive this thread. While turning off "Live Preview" with the three dots stops the viewer from loading whatever you hover over, how do you turn off the "hover scrubbing" over the thumbnails all together?

+1000 please have live preview turned off by default or an option at least to disable it by default.

I've had so many times in sessions (especially near the start) when clients see the live preview as I hover over a still/powergrade and either freak out as the image looks cooked or see something they shouldn't and think it looks good/interesting when it's on something that wont work.

Im sure its handy for some users while operating, but when it feeds the client display also it can be frustrating, especially with some agency folk who are not super familiar with the process.

Just mentioned to this to a visiting Universal Studios colorist yesterday, and he said, "my god, Live Preview drives us all batty!" So it's not just us.

+1 A option in preferences for turn live preview off for ever would be so great! It's so unbelievable annoying to turn that off on every new project.
