Resolve 15.1.1 Free version is H.264 prevents testing

PostSun Sep 30, 2018 2:47 pm

I am trying to migrate away from everything Apple. I built up an Intel Hades Canyon NUC w/ AMD Vega and NVIDIA GTX970 GPU. I am running Ubuntu Bionic Beaver 18.04 I've been migrating my media and code I wrote from my MacPro early 2013 can desktop. All my family videos are either in iMovie or FCPx.
Video I captured from my 3DR Solo Drone is from a GoPro 4. All my raw video is encoded with H.264

The last step I am taking to complete my migration is to make sure I can render my family videos.
I bought FCPx 4 years ago. I am looking to replace it with Davinci Resolve.
The last version of Davinci crashed while running on my NUC because it did not run properly with an eGPU. It appears 15.1.1 may work. Can you release a version that has a 6 minute video limitation that way we can test everything ? Or since I'm testing on new hardware possibly a lower price on Studio ?
I will be able to release my build spec. The Haydes Canyon NUC has lot's of connectivity, can drive a lot of monitors at once and interface to many audio and video sources.
