Fujifilm X-T3 H.265 SlowMo Video not supported by Resolve?

PostTue Oct 09, 2018 2:04 pm

Hey,

I just got a Fujifilm X-T3 and love it's 240 FPS SlowMo video capabilities.
I record as H.265 full HD 24 FPS but Resolve 15.1 can't read the files (*.mov), it shows me a "Media Offline" red warning.

Is that a known limitation? Can I do something to solve it?

My system (Windows 8.1 x64) can play back the videos with no problem (Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic) and I have the K-Lite Codec Pack installed beyond others.

Any hints on what the problem could be are appreciated.
I can provide a sample if needed.

Thanks and cheers,

Tom

To clarify:
- The H.264 videos from the camera can be read without issue.
- The problem with the H.265 encoded video isn't limited to the SlowMo video, but applies to all video recorded by the X-T3 with that codec.
- The video is 4:2:0 10 Bit.

Before someone tells you W8.1 isn't a supported OS, Resolve h.265 playback is Mac only at this point.

Really? Hm - that's unfortunate, since I recorded some cool clips not knowing that this would be an issue...
Oh well. Somehow Resolve always seems to find a way to not work for me fully... ;-)

Thanks and Cheers,

That's not true - maybe for the free version but Studio on Win10 plays the X-T3 H.265 clips... kinda...

I rarely get more than 9fps without any correctors though (Cinema4k, 24p, 400Mbit HEVC) despite my system being able to play multiple streams at once outside of resolve.

Specs are:

AMD FX8350
32GB DDR3-1600 RAM
2x 980TI Graphics cards
Fully NVMe disks

Sorry to hijack the thread, but anyone else seen the rubbish playback performance?

I have studio15 free on win 10 and have same problem with slomo h265 files from x-t3, they actually crash resolve after gpu error 11. Strangely I have no problem with 4k h265 from same camera... (I do need to create optimized media because my gtx660 card cannot cope with 4k). If I want to use slomo I need to film in h264.

In answer to my previous hijack, upgrading the AMD FX8350 to and AMD Ryzen R5 2600 totally fixed playback, even on DCI 4k timelines.
