Playback Issue, Video/Audio Stutters

PostTue Oct 09, 2018 3:51 am

I just started using DaVinci Resolve (came from Hitfilm) and I'm running into stuttering issues when playing back the timeline.

This project is super simple, just two clips (it's my first time using the software) stitched together. I did not put any effects in (yet).

Note that this occurs only in the timeline playback, previewing a clip does not have this issue.

I have a video that shows the issue and a link to my diagnostics files but I can't post URLs on the forum.

My specs are:
    CPU: i7-7700K @4.7GHz
    RAM: 16GB DDR4-3000
GPU: Asus - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB
    Windows 10 Pro

My OS disk (the one with DaVinci Resolve installed on) is a Samsung Evo 960 SSD (NVMe) and the drive the clips reside on is a Kingstson V300 SSDNow.

The input clips are in .mp4 but I tried changing them to dnxhd in an attempt to fix the editing issue, to no avail.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I just found the solution to this issue a few minutes ago. The solution is super trivial but took me more than I'd like to admit to figure out :)

So my source videos were in 1080p 60fps and my project settings were in 1080p 24fps. I changed the Video format to "HD 1080p 60" under Project Settings, Master Settings, Video Monitoring and now everything is buttery smooth and I can now learn DaVinci Resolve.

I'm guessing that the conversion from 60 to 24 was causing the weird stutter.
