Audio Bugs - Cuts out with Exported Video & Driver Issues

PostSun Oct 14, 2018 12:46 am

Hello there,

Right now I'm trying out DaVinci Resolve to see if I can switch over from Premiere, and so far I'm unable to do so because I'm running into bugs related to audio playback and export.

Here are my system & software specs:

DaVinci Revolve 15.1.1.005
Windows 10 Pro - Fully Updated
CPU - AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X 16-Core Processor
64 GB of Memory
Geforce GTX 1080 driver version 416.16

Here is issue No. 1:

Audio does not respect headphone jack as a playback option. In fact, the only audio driver it wants to work with is my computer monitor.

* I've disabled all drivers except for my headphone driver (driver belongs to Microsoft)
* Inside Resolve, I've tried every combination of settings with the Video/Audio I/O section. Speaker Configuration both set as "Use System Setting" and "Manual."
* With Manual, it recognizes the headphone device and allows me to assign it to the left and right stereo for playback
* In the edit timeline, Audio transits are displayed & moving, but there is still no playback audio
* 2 Channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz is set as the format for both my videos & headphone driver playback

Here is bug No. 2:

Upon exporting video, about 10 seconds of audio will play and then cut out for the remainder of the video.

* Playback works correctly inside Resolve (using my monitor speakers)
* I've tried exporting with both Linear PCM and AAC audio codex.
* I've tried adjusting the bit depth along with the Output track options.
* I've tried playing the video in both VLC & Quicktime players and the problem persists
* As far as the video settings go, I've used Quicktime H.264 @ auto best quality along with .mp4 h.264 settings
* Clip settings match that of what's being exported.
* Problem persists even with a brand new scene being created & trying to export the audio.

Here is some info about the video clip that I've imported:

* 1920x1080 30 fps
* Audio Bit rate @ 197/kbps
* Data Rate: 5297kbps
* 2 Channels (stereo)
* 48.000 kHz sample rate
* 215 MB file that lasts for about 5 minutes
* Before importing to Resolve, audio works properly

I really want to switch to Resolve because I love how the program has been laid out, but I can't do that until these audio problems are corrected. If there is any other information that I can provide, please let me know.

Thanks!
