[Solved] No H.264/HEVC hardware decoding on Mac with i7-7700

PostSat Oct 13, 2018 1:54 pm

Afternoon

Me again (o;

When I run DRS on my old MacbookPro on macOS 10.13.6 it shows the "Decode H.264/HEVC using hardware acceleration" option in preferences...that's on Intel HD4000 and GT650M.

On my Mac also running 10.13.6 it doesn't show this option...though the GTX1080 TI should be capable of several HEVC 1080p stream decoding in realtime...

Why the preferences difference in DRS 15.1.1.005 on macOS?

intels xeon CPUs used by apple does not have intel quick sync video
only i7 and i9 has it

so, for a mac pro and imac pro you must transcode H265 to prores before

Guessed I found the problem....

macOS shows also no AirPlay option....sort of synonym for Intel QuickSync...

Trying a reinstall of macOS high sierra now...
