Glidecam X10 HD4000 with BMCC

PostSun May 12, 2013 10:48 am

I'm trying out my Glidecam X10 HD4000 with BMCC, are there more of you out there that fly it on a steadicam, other than a Merlin?

I have mounted my BMCC on my HD4000....it's ridiculously heavy without a vest. I would only use it for very short moves. I was actually thinking about adding a vest when I went to NAB and saw the movi...I think I'll wait because that solution is so much better than steadicam!!

so why don't you use it with a vest?
I do, I don't think it's very useable without, too heavy indeed.

The Chinese company Wieldy and the Iron Triangle + their vest. Shazam! But haven't used it with the BMCC, cause.... I don't have it yet! :D

Like I said, I was looking into a vest...

I didn't need a vest when using the 5D.

ok, I get it.

Movi is nice, but total different pricecategory, especially the fact that with the BMCC we probably need the expensive one.

I've used the BMCC with an X-10 and HD4000 that i borrowed - worked well with a mattebox on it. Adding my v-mount battery etc became too much but otherwise seemed good (i'm not a steadicam op by any stretch).

I"m testing t without a V mount, because it just stays smaller that way. I must say, I have a Quick release from Wooden Camera underneath the camera that makes its position quite high

Don't even think of putting this thing on a HD4000 without the expensive vest (not the cheap tacky one we have - it's worthless). The BMPCC on the other hand would be ideal!
