Using Behringer X-touch compact with DaVinci Resolve

PostThu Mar 21, 2019 12:35 am

Hello, as it happened to have a Behringer X-touch compact control surface I would like to connect it to DaVinci Resolve in order to control my audio with it using the faders. Although DaVinci recognises it as an audio panel and allows me to save it as such I never arrive to a point to configure commands or so. Even more, every time I give a command from the faders DaVinci crashes. Any ideas how could I get it to work. Thank you and cheers :)

Are you on Mac or Windows?

There are no commands to configure per se. Resolve supports basic fader, pan, transport through HUI or MCU. Looks like the X-Touch has MCU so use that. It should pretty much "just work" once it's configured.

A bit late to the party here but I have an X-touch compact.

My own experiences are a bit mixed. Currently in 16.2, Resolve can control the faders well but there are micro adjustments if I touch the faders on the X-touch myself after I let go of the fader. It's a little disconcerting.

I wanted it to control more than 8 faders. I originally thought that the Layer keys would cycle between groups of 8 faders but that's not the case.

To change between groups of faders you rotate the "15" rotary control. This moves to the next group of 8 faders.

The "16" rotary controller moves control of faders up by one fader at a time.

To be honest, if I can pick up a Mackie HUI controller at a good second hand price, I might do that as I just feel that it would integrate better (although I may be entirely wrong).

I don't know that it would necessarily integrate better. MCU / HUI support is pretty basic. But the Mackie will be a much higher quality surface with better layout and more features. Also if you're looking I would get a MCU USB version. The HUI is very old and long out of production.

Has anyone successfully integrated a non-BMD audio controller for Fairlight in Resolve 16 or 17?

Asking for a friend...

I have connected a X-touch. I kinda works with Fairlight. Some buttons are randomly mapped but all in all you can do a fader automation with that surface.
