Shortcut for Zoom In Out the Timeline?

PostWed Nov 08, 2017 8:18 am

Is there a shortcut for zoom in out the timeline like "+" and "-" in Premiere.
I know there is Alt+Mousewheel. But i need a solid key.

Doesn´t work here on Windows 10.
There is also no entry in the keyboard shortcut list.

With ctrl + +/- in the EDIT page you can specify an amount of time the cursor will jump ahead/back in the timeline.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what you mean by this. I'm running Windows 10 and using the default keyboard mapping. Ctrl + zooms in and Ctrl + zooms out. Realize that you have to use the numeric keys on top of the letters, not the numeric keypad. And Shift Z zooms out to show the entire timeline.

On windows 10 it works with the normal keys, but it doesn't work with the numpad. Should work on both, doesn't it?

Some programmes use the number pad for different functions. This is the case in Pro Tools where the number pad keys are for timecode and locate functions for instance, which the normal number keys do not access.

For me nothing works (neither Alt+Scroll button, neither Ctrl +, or Ctrl -).
Im on Windows 10, Logitech PRO keaboard without a numpad.

Edit: It works like a charm in the Edit module. It just doesn't work in the Cut module.

On Windows, hold down the Ctrl key and press the plus key as many times as you need to zoom in. To zoom out hold down the Ctrl key and press the minus key as many times as you need to zoom out. These are the plus and minus keys on the keyboard to the right of the number and symbol keys.
This works only in the Edit and Fairlight pages.

It's not supposed to. The top timeline shows you the entire timeline always. The bottom shows you a zoom in view always.

As you always see both the full and zoomed in views, there's no need to zoom on the CUT page.

You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I can assure you, for some users there is indeed a need to zoom on the CUT page. It would be very convenient to be able to zoom the timeline in and out with just the mouse as you can in editors such as Ocenaudio where you simply position the cursor over the track and can zoom in and out simply by using the center mouse wheel. Or any other way, for that matter.

Would love to be able to select the three preset zoom buttons on the Edit timeline with a shortcut, say, 1,2,3 for each level. The Alt+scroll does work, but is frustrating when zooming into the frame level and back out to check the edit (and back) and clicking GUI somethings with a mouse "should" have a shortcut equivalent.

Is there a way to assign hotkey so Timeline zooms to In/Out Range?
I have three separate interviews on same timeline, so as to copy elements, captions, bugs etc. When I work on one of them I set In/Out range accordingly, but want to be able to zoom to that specific part, not the whole timeline with all clips, (as is available in other NLEs)

No, most of software use normal +- keys only
For example in After effects the numpad +- are used for rotation clock and clockwise of layer, in premiere to change timecode, and more.

Yes you can create a shortcut. I have done it.
Go to:
Keyboard Customization
Under the Commands Column, scroll down and click View
Then on the right column scroll down to Zoom
You'll need to clear the current shortcut.
Then add the + to zoom in and the - to zoom out (or any other key you want it to be)
If you get the yellow caution symbol, that means it's already assigned and you'll need to go clear that key first from its current command.
Then you can save this customization.

I use +/- on my keyboard. I'm on Windows 10

Anybody know if you can set the zoom amount for +/- keys?
I find my self needing to push each key multiple times just to get to the magnification level I need. If there's a way to change the zoom amount on each press that would be super cool.
