timecode and srt export

PostTue Jan 28, 2020 11:16 am

Can someone help me with this, please.
I have a 24fps sequence on timeline with subtitles. When I exported them in srt file, picture shows the result.
But, as you can see from Resolve srt text file, there are 3 digits at the end. Don`t get it!?
Should it be two digits instead, fallowing number of frames (00-24 then back to 00)?
Should it be "hours: minutes: seconds: frames:!?

Is there any other export option to get it right ? Is there a settings that I missed in preferences?

Nothing wrong with the file.
This the way srt supposed to be.
Resolve works in smpt tc and srt is in mil seconds.

Hello,

I'm having a similar issue with srt and exports but unable to create a new post, possibly due to being a new member?

The problem I'm having is that I import a new SRT but the Subtitles gradually slide to the left and out of sync.

The mp4 used has been edited, I need to nudge the existing SRT to match the new TC on my timeline.

For this example, I've moved the start of the Subtitle 1 to 12 seconds, quick export srt and import to check the new subtitles are in sync to my footage.

Subtitle 2, which should display starting at 12 seconds now says start time is 8:11. I drag and drop Subtitle 2 to begin at the 12 second point on my timeline but I notice the rest of the subtitles gradually shift to the left the further along the timeline. By the end of the film, the subtitles are out of sync by 12 frames.

I've tried to troubleshoot this and so far, only read that Resolve isn't great at reading SRT time stamps. Is this the case or have I missed a step when creating the new SRT?

Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

Luke

Hi Peter,

Sorry for my late reply.

I thought that might be the issue but everything seems to be matching with regards to sequence and footage settings. In this case, the Mp4 is 29.97, I noticed first of all that creating sequence from clip defaults to 24frames in the timeline.

I clicked the cog (bottom right of resolve) and manually changed both project and timeline settings to match 29.97.

Unfortunately, this doesn't fix the problem.

I've attached a project test I did this morning, unfortunately unable to show project names but hopefully will make sense. First two are the video and timeline which you can see matches fps and so on.

Third line is subtitle 1 (original). For my test I moved the block to 26:25 on timeline and exported srt. Layer 4 is the import (New subtitle).

New subtitle says start code is 23:06 but it should be 26:25. Again, subtitles gradually move to left when I align start at 26:25.

Sorry in advance if I'm missing something obvious, new to Resolve. I setup the project under my desired output settings, check the cog for this too. Also manually change the timeline to correct settings before drag and drop the srt.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Luke,

I wonder if you have solved this problem. I am having exactly the same issue here. I have tried many ways, but nothing has worked yet, including :
Changing my starting timecode,
export subtitles into different formats (srt, srt without format, vtt)

Have you ever found a workaround?

Thanks.
