Hi, SRT subtitles import for Middle Eastern languages (Hebrew, Arabic) don't seem to work on DaVinci Resolve 15, on PC (Resolve Studio 15.2, Windows 10 Pro 64 bit). It works flawlessly on Mac, but comes out as gibberish on the PC. It has already been reported here by some users, I can attest the problem exists and is easily replicable, but only on the PC platform. Thank you, Tomer.
Can you show us an example where you see a difference between Windows and Mac? An SRT file and screenshots of how they appear in each system would be helpful.
Could you check if all the correct fonts are installed and work well in Windows? Do the subtitles look ok when you change fonts inside Resolve? Do they look ok when you open them in Wordpad or another text editing application?
Hi Shrinivas, At the moment, I can only send you the Windows side of things- as you can see, the bug is very evident. changing to another font has no effect. I doubt it ever worked on Windows machines with ME languages- attached are the GUI screencaps, and the SRT in notepad. Thank you! Tomer.
Hi JPOwens, Using Unicode/UTF (tried all sorts- UTF-8, Unicode, Unicode Big Endian) shows another bug- text appears correctly in the inspector, but does not appear in the timeline at all. BM guys, could you please look into it?
Hi BMD guys! I've been keeping my fingers crossed with every release since the original Resolve 15- 15.2.4, but still no luck... when will Middle Eastern languages subtitle support come to Resolve on Windows?
Hi BMD! The issue has been identified, and hasn't been fixed in Resolve 16 Beta as well. The stroke control on Hebrew language subtitles doesn't work (probably other Middle Eastern language as well). Since subtitles default to an active stroke, no subtitles are visible. When you turn off the stroke the subtitles become visible, but quite unintelligible (white with no stroke on bright video background). That issue appears only on PC/Windows, and not on Mac. And while you're at it- could you please give us the option to choose between fill over stroke and stroke over fill, in subtitles and the text tool? Subtitles in films are stroke over fill, while resolve only allows fill over stroke, which makes its subtitles look odd, and not in sync with subtitles as we come to know... Thank you!
Hey there. it's 9/2020 and still I can't use stroke in my subtitles. what am I supposed to do? Why won't you fix that simple problem? I see people have let you know about it for a long time. I'm very upset and if I find no solution I'm gonna have to go back to different editing program - which really sucks.
