THANK YOU BLACK MAGIC DESIGN

PostFri Aug 02, 2013 2:29 pm

I am a storyteller. That's what filmaking is about. its about how we can realize our vision and bring it to life. when a piece of innovative technology such as the black magic cameras allows others and myself to tell their story and give them access to equipment they can afford, then that is whats its all about. Now its up to us to take our story and work that much higher. let our creativity shine.

It's been an adventurous year for black magic design and its customers and as we know every journey brings new challenges. But challenges don't last forever, instead they give birth to new and exciting ideas and results. I am truly grateful for your efforts in making it that much easier for people to access digital cinema tools. It has been difficult, discouraging at times, after reading and getting negative feedback from your customers. Its true you have not been perfect as a company, as we the customers have also been not equally appreciative of your efforts, despite your first attempt. But that's how the situation is, its a tough market to be in and i'm sure that you will continue with your culture of high quality for affordable prices mantra, because we all end up benefiting. We as the customers are always giving feedback so that you may listen and deliver products that will help us in our work. And finally to the customers of black magic design, i would like to thank them for their constant feedback, raising concerns as they rightly should do because they are the customers, they spend their hard earned money and expect results, having said that i feel out of place when i read comments that seem unreasonable for instance in regards to the price drop on the BMC camera and the question of loss of value. but in my personal opinion i feel its our skill, experience and the quality of our work that increase our value, not the cameras. its whether we please our clients on every job and the relationship with our clients is what build the investment.

One last issue i would like to raise is that as a company, black magic design have not, at least in my opinion marketed their cameras as they should, being a revolutionary camera. taking the example from the canon 5d era when lots of people spread its viabilty as movie camera. people like SHANE HURLBUT, PHILLIP BLOOM , VInCENT LAFORET, that is why dslr filmaking is still happening, because there are blogs and tons of resources. JOHN BRAWLEY as much as i like his effort seems a laid back individual, he is not interactive with your customers. what you need is people who drive your sales on the internet and have a huge following by creating communities of up and coming filmakers. what you need is a SHANE HURLBUT FOR BLACK MAGIC DESIGN.

your sincerely.

Completely disagree on your point on John - he has posted significant amounts of useful information regarding BMD cameras on his blog, on twitter, and on a range of forums. He has provided people with feedback on cameras - feedback that no doubt will influence purchasing decisions. He really has gone above and beyond and he has certainly helped me out with answers. I'm sure he would have sold cameras for BMD.

I had to look up Shane Hurlbut, but his blog is sponsored by BMD, and has articles on it about using BMCCs, so he's already working with BMD?

I'd also like to thank John Brawley for the immense contributions he continues to make to the community!

In addition to being an extremely busy and expert working DP, John also writes detailed blog posts related to BMD cameras, shoots initial sample videos with their cameras, and has responded to hundreds of end-user (and potential end-user) questions on this forum and other forums, such as BMCuser.com and personal-view.com

Don't always get caught in the provocating one-night-postings of anonymous trolls hiding behind some lame acronym. It's not worth the wear of your keyboards, let alone your time.
