Multi Channel Video Capture via Decklink Quad HDMI

PostTue Jul 28, 2020 2:58 am

I tried to search for a similar topic so please forgive me if this is already addressed elsewhere. I could not find it.

What I'd like to do is capture each input of a decklink quad hdmi as a separate file with corresponding timecode metadata. My understanding is that Media Express only allows one instance for live capture. Is there a BMD sanctioned method for multi (quad) channel capture? Should this be possible with bmdtools?

I am able to capture from this device with ffmpeg and enabled decklink libraries but I'm wondering if there's a better way.

My system is built around a ryzen 7 1800x; 8-core CPU. I'm assuming there are system limitations to this as well. Any input regarding multi channel capture in general is also greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey, I'm looking to do something similar, capture 8 inputs with a Hyperdeck Quad 2. Did you find a solution to your problem?

I would love to know an efficient way of doing this too without using premium tools.
At the moment I'm using just:in from ToolsOnAir
It works really well, but it's not cheap. I'd love to find another way of doing it. Something that's open source would be great.
