MFT lenses interchangeable?

PostWed Aug 07, 2013 6:58 pm

Sorry if this has been covered but I couldn't find it.

Can the same MFT lenses be used by both the Cinema Camera and the Pocket Camera?

Thanks

Only the Pocket Camera's MFT mount is active.

Marc's correct: Digital MFT lenses are not functional on the BMCC-MFT with its passive MFT lens mount; even their "manual" modes require power/communication from the camera. The active mount on the BMPCC supports digital MFT lenses.

A fully-manual (mechanical) MFT lens can be used on both the BMPCC & BMCC-MFT. Of course the crop will be different.

Thank you Marc & Peter.

That helped make my decision. I need a camera now and I have Canon lenses so the EF model it is. Since I will be buying the Pocket Camera as soon as it comes out I didn't want to spend money twice on lenses if they could be used on both cameras.

Somewhere along the line it would sure be good for someone to put together a real world manual for BM cameras. I thought Marco Solerio at One River Media might be doing something like that but haven't heard anything recently.

The next question will be about the Trim Operation on the SSD's when I know enough to ask a question :-)
