You cannot connect the SSD to the PC using the camera. You have to remove the SSD from the camera and put it in to a SATA Dock.

Video card? I didn't even know video cards came with a SATA connection.

It's just a standard SATA drive connector on the SSD... so anything that allows you to connect a regular SATA hard drive should work.

I prefer a proper SATA dock myself.. but anything should work

I can't tell all that much from what you have shared. I have no idea what cable you have. With SATA the power is usually part of the cable.

Did you launch the Disk Management Tool? If the drive is unformatted it is likely not yet mounted (so you won't see it listed as an available drive in explorer yet). You may see it in the DMT - and you can then assign it a drive letter and format it as exFAT.

I would be reluctant to plug things in to an expensive SSD that I wasn't totally sure was the right thing.

I personally prefer to use an eSATA or USB3 Dock. My 2x512GB SSD's are precious and expensive things.

I have this StarTech 4 Bay eSATA USB 3.0 to SATA Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5/3.5 HDD and this NewerTech Voyager Q Quad Interface Dock for 2.5" and 3.5" Serial ATA Drives.

You can get cheaper ones... but I just decided to go for those based upon my needs.

Follow instructions in this post to format the drive using the CMD line utility.

Ahh. You might want to post over in the Cinematography section for further help.

Do you have the latest firmware in the camera?

Well... it may not be the issue. exFAT has been around for a while in the Hyperdecks and such... so if you just received your camera it likely has it.

At this point I would highly recommend you post further questions in the Cinematography section. I am not a BMCC user.... so my experience is purely with SSD's and their use in Hyperdecks.
