Multicam Cuts before ticker

PostSun Aug 23, 2020 1:31 pm

Hey,

I'm editing in multicam quite often,
usually when you "cut to camera" it does it from the place onwards.
For some reason it changed to cut from the place (ticker) backwards, this is completely unusable. How can I reverse this?

Try toggling "selection follows playhead" and see if that reverts to the behavior you expect. If not, post a screenshot so we can see what's going on.

You're switching angles during playback from the top left monitor?

Either from the Multicam monitor or using keyboard it has the same result -> cut before ticker rather than after

Me neither. I tried duplicating that setup based on your screenshot, and I don't see that behavior.

If you have a Studio License, you should call BMD for support. If not, see if you can reproduce the behavior in an empty project, list your steps, and report a bug.

I've just had this for the first time. Makes Multicam editing impossible.

Latest Studio version installed.

Anyone find a fix?

UPDATE: I trimmed off a spare clip from the end of the timeline (a non-multicam clip) and removed an empty audio track...and it miraculously started to work again. Weird!

17.08 b18, same issue. No idea what to do here. Mid project, just started doing this, switching to the LEFT of the playhead.

This is ep7 of a YouTube series with identical format, all cut within the last couple weeks. All Multicam. 0 problems.

SOLUTION!!! minutes after posting haha: I had the talent mic audio on A1 and this MC clip on V1 in the timeline, with no audio even in the Multicam (tried removing that as a previous solution I mean). No problem. However, I had linked it to the MC clip early on. I just now unlinked it, and the MC cutting immediately started working normally again. Thinking this was intentional from BMD and I just missed it, I re-linked them, and it still worked correctly. I think, for whatever reason, that unlinking sorta 'cleared' it?

Idk, you know computers got voodoo. Whatever. Not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth. Hopefully it works again if it slips back! That's 2 hours gone :)

Just had this again - some months later - and stumped me for about 30 mins.

I'd removed the audio from the MC as I was using the audio from other mics and noticed the MC track was still "linked" even though there's no audio. So I right-click on the MC in the timeline, and untoggled "link clips" and it works again.

Posting this so that when it happens again in a few months I can find this post and read the fix haha.
