That's not what's causing the hang. That just happens to be the last message displayed on the GUI before the hang/delay.

If you have any USB connected audio headsets, like a Corsair Void Pro, that can cause a long launch delay. Try removing anything like that to see if it helps.

USB HDMI capture dongles can also cause launch delays.

Oh my! Thank you!

After a week of installing, reinstalling Resolve 17 beta 9 and different Nvidia Driver versions. Eventually getting a fresh install of windows 10.

IT WAS MY FRIGGING NEW HDMI CAPTURE CARD!

Those having ntdll.dll error. check your usb devices!

So it seems this issue is still persisting even with today's release of Resolve and Fusion Studio 17 stable. Ridiculously long boot up times for both apps of 5+ minutes. Resolve still looking for a control service it couldn't find 3 months ago. Fusion crashes on file > open

UPDATE: Ignore my whinging above. I found out accidentally that the issue on my machines was a third party app called FontBase. I have no idea why or what it is about that app that was causing issues but disabling it and both Fusion and Resolve Studio boot up within 10 seconds. Confirmed on two separate machines running Windows 10.

Hi Dwaine,

New here and am having the same issue and stuck at loading Davinci 17 looking for control surfaces, I've done all of the following:
- turned off all USB devices
- Disabled VPN
- Tried uninstall and re-install several times
- Checked any issues with TCP ports

Curiously Davinci 16 does work, but I would rather get to the bottom of why Davinci 17.1 working. I've attached my error log and Windows NFO file.

Thanks,

Ray

Hi Dwaine,

Sorry for the wait - seems .nfo nor .doc files were allowed, I've resaved as .txt and attached the NFO log.

Thanks,

Ray

Need the actual .NFO file. Plus, nothing was attached.

Place the file on a file sharing site and provide a link to the file here.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

Hi Dwaine,

Here is the link for the NFO file:

Happy Easter, its been a little busy for me, I continue to use 16.2.7.10 free version but its extremely slow compared to the Version 17 Studio version, so much prefer to move back on to that.

Thank and Regards,

Ray

That's not a .NFO file. It appears that you did a File - Export to a text file, and changed the extension to .NFO.

Open the System Information app and do a File - Save, not a File - Export.

Just ran into the same problem with DaVinci Resolve 17.1 Build 24. The problem was my USB headset. Except for the keyboard and mouse, it was the only other USB device plugged in when I tried to start up Resolve and got stuck at the splashscreen, "Looking for Control Surface".

I closed out Resolve, unplugged the headset (a Corsair with its own drivers and control panel installed) and when I restarted Resolve booted up without any real delays.

Seems like Resolve is super opportunistic (optimistic?) when it sees a potential control device plugged into USB and will wait forever on a handshake that's never coming.
