UK Order vs US order

PostTue Aug 13, 2013 12:00 pm

Hey, I'm sorry if this shouldn't really be posted in here.

I have an order for the BMPCC from creativevideo (ordered on May 9th). I am moving to New York on September 19th and am unsure whether to cancel my current order and place an order from Adorama or B&H. Getting it shipped to my girlfriend who is already out there.

It's cheaper to get from America, but I will be way down the waiting list... and I have no idea how long it will take to get my UK order. If it comes after I leave, that won't be cool... but I would prefer to get it here before I leave than to wait 6 months for a new order in the US.

Any advise or suggestions would be much appreciated. I know there isn't a simple answer for this.

Thanks!

I'd check with Creative Video where on their list you are. I ordered mine from Jigsaw on 10th April and i'm 18th (two days after launch)

There is a simple answer:

Preorder in the US but don't cancel your UK preorder. Then wait which camera's delivered first - i wouldn't even be sure it won't be the US one...

Thanks :) I've just had this reply from CreativeVideo, after i've sent three emails:

You are currently quite a way down or back order list as we started taking pre orders in April and this is when we received the most so a good number of the back orders we have are in April.

Again with knowing the quantities we are due to receive we cannot predict when you will be able to get yours.

At this time my advise would be to wait until the end of August before canceling. At this point we will know more about the shipping of the camera and you would not have lost your place in the queue before leaving for america.

Update from Creative video about my order for the BMPCC which I placed on the 15th of April..

We have not yet received the shipment and the status was changed online BlackMagic have again exceeded the estimated shipping date.

We have had confirmation from our supplier that the camera have started shipping from Blackmagic but they are still waiting for units to arrive in the UK and are unable to give us any estimated dates.

We started taking back order on the 08/04/13 there are around 200 orders before we get to orders placed on the 15/04/13 but as we don't know how much stock we are expecting in each shipment we do not know how long it will take to get through them.

If you have any further question please do not hesitate to ask

Kind Regards

Hello nice to meet all of you, its my first post here.

I had phoned two U.K resellers (PEC and 3D Broadcast) and both of them had been really honest and confirmed they had not received any shipment and don't know how many and when they will receive it from their distributor, but will likely to be end of August before they can send out the cameras. They also seems to have smaller numbers of orders too.

Guess we will just have to wait.

I ordered on the 8th April, stayed up early morning and ordered with CVP. UK time are ahead by several hrs before the earliest preorderers in USA placed their orders. Likewise CVP took orders and placed orders with BMD sooner than B&H and Adorama due to the time different. As of now I'm still waiting, CVP have not heard any imminent delivery and good old US of A has taken deliveries sooner yet again. Many of us in Europe are earliest with orders but last to see it :x

Yesterday CVP in the UK said there is a Batch of European Pocket cameras that was sent from BMD last week and should be arriving this week or early next week, CVP didn't know how many cameras were in the shipment, but they would know as soon as the distributor received the shipment, it would then be split up amongst suppliers and users could expect these units in the not too distant future..

In addition they'd did say that there has been a very large number of orders, (I have read, somewhere in the region of 20K orders on one site?) and that depending on the numbers in the shipment, I may not be in this first batch.. Even though I ordered on day 1 (8th April) they mentioned that I should be in the first couple of batches, but the guy I spoke to said "well done getting in on day 1" as the pre orders went through the roof from the 9th of April onward..!
Good luck to all those waiting! :)

Well CVP got at least one BMPCC as they gave it to Phillip Bloom!

I live in Aus mate and one of the biggest dealers (Lemac) still don't have any confirmed dates and we're 12 hours ahead of the USA!

I think the store lent it to Phillip Bloom to test, not a keeper. Phillip buys his toys himself.
