Resize Timeline Height In Edit Page

PostMon Jan 18, 2021 4:58 pm

Would be nice to be able to double click the left side of the Video or Audio track to enlarge or shrink the timeline height like you can in Premiere Pro. I know you can "Mouse Left Grab" and resize but would be nice to be able to just double click in the timeline as well.

We can already do this three ways:

1. In the Timeline View Options
2. Shift+Mouse Wheel anywhere in the video or audio tracks.
3. Grab and Drag in the Track Header with the mouse.

I don't think we need a fourth.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

+1 that would be helpful, esp if that toggle could be assigned to a key. Goes with assignable track height presets w/ shortcuts like in Avid (I think Premiere has this as well).

Ok, when video track height is between min and max height, what a double clic on it would do ?
Reduce it at minimum or increase it at maximum ?

When video track height is minimum, a double clic on it will increase height at maximum ?
If yes, it won't be very helpfull because most of the time you will have to reduce it a bit again (which consume some clics or mouse actions).

If anybody used Premiere Pro in the last while you will discover how helpful and easy it is to just double click on the timeline to expand and decrease timeline height. The timeline height expands to your preset.

Again, if you never used Premiere Pro and used this function you wouldn't really know how great this feature is. Just my opinion ofcourse. If this is easy to program then great. If not, I can live with it as is.

Hi, using latest Resolve 16 version here and I'm unable to get this to work. How can you quickly collapse the video/audio track heights without individually changing each one?

Option 2 is new for version 17.

Option 1 will get you there in 16.

Hi Jim,
For #1, I'm not seeing a resizing option under the Timeline menu. Is it somewhere else?

Timeline View Options, not the Timeline menu.

Have you completed any training for Resolve yet? That really is an important first step, I think. One shouldn't skip that.

No no no...! No double-clicking in the left corner, center, or right corner for a feature like this. I want to double-click to display thumbnails on the timeline. My colleague wants a double-click to rename the timeline. Another colleague wants to double-click to duplicate the timeline or for timeline settings, etc., etc. Double-click must not be used in this illogical way. Adobe teaches its users senseless habits, which are then often required of them here. No double-clicking for anything that comes to mind, please! Thank you.

What would be nice if you could remap the speed editor to do this. I.e. press and hold 1 and use jog wheel to increase track height. Press and hold 2 and use jog wheel to expand timeline etc. That lovely jog wheel needs more love.
