Hey guys! First time post here as I only just got my lovely BMCC and I applologise if I have broken any forum etiquette (I'm a mod over at Magic Lantern so I really should know better
).
Anyway - I haven't seen anyone post this yet so please delete the crap out of this post if it's already been covered but spoke to Mosaic today and they pointed me towards this:
Totally gets rid of the moire artifacts! Woohoo! Just recieved one of these today for a DSLR (Canon 6D which is the WORST camera I have used when it comes to moire) and I can honestly say - believe the hype! On my 6D it's completely gone
One thing I will mention is you need to watch this vid on a 1080p monitor as watching it on a smaller screen makes it look like there is still a moire pattern and aliasing where there is not. At first I thought the after was the same as the before but then watched it on my 1080p monitor and it had vanished
Also, downloading the file will show it in it's true glory!
When speaking to Mosaic they said that they are still improving it but it'll be out very soon! Best. News. Ever.
Hope this made someone elses day
EDIT: It's also worth noting that although I only just purchased a filter I have had to work in post with footage shot with one many times before and my own preferred method to get a nice clean image is to denoise first and THEN apply sharpening to counter the slight softness introduced by the filter. Adding the sharpening really does pull the detail back to where it should be but I think with the grain structure of the BMCC, that added sharpness might bring out the grain a bit TOO much for my taste making the image much too busy. A simple pass with Neat Vid or your preferred denoiser, then add a tiny bit of sharpness and then re-introduce your grain and POW! Clean, aliasing and moire free BMCC footage FTW
