Davinci Resolve 17 broke my system !!!!

So I have been using DR since version 14 and finally upgraded to Studio last year where I ran 16.2.7 flawlessly. After updating to 16.2.8 I keep getting a lock up and 100% gpu use on a legacy project so thought I'd update to version 17.
I installed version 17 of studio downloaded from the support page and boy was that a mistake. I now have no installation of Davinci resolve nor can I install any version at all. I now have paid for software that I can't even install period. Can I get a full refund as I simply can't use your software at all now!?!?
So what happened?
I installed 17 and all appeared to work just fine. The install required a reboot which it did and all the icons etc were there and the install was apparently successful. Upon running Davinci Resolve however I was greeted with the error message "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found blah blah.
I reinstalled but as it was reinstalled it didn't offer the option the reinstall the components already installed. So I uninstalled and reinstalled.... same problem. I uninstalled everything under Davinci resolve using control panel and now I can't install any version because it says that it can't install the resolve panels. I have deleted all folders and the reg entries under local machine / software for davinci but still I can't install ANY version of resolve. I have a paid project that needed changing and i'm now screwed.
Davinci resolve Keyboards refuses to uninstall from the control panel too.

What the hell is going on. I "NEED" to be able to install this software, how are you able to make such a botched installer?
How do I reemedy this one !?!?

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

Will try to, the issue has crippled a number of other key software programs like SketchUp that also relied on those dll's etc. I have to reinstall my system today but will see if I can get this done before I pull the old drive.

You don't need to do anything drastic. Just reinstall visual c++ 2015 redistributable again separately. Get it off Microsoft.

Can you describe in detail your issue?

The most current log shows you had this project loaded: 14-Bimini-Lane

And that Resolve had a clean exit.

So I'm not sure what your issue is.

I had the same issue - could not start due to missing VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.

My fix was to go to control panel, apps and functions (translated from norwegian, not sure if that is the name in english), find the last version installed of the 'Microsoft visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable *'-file (mine was updated between last time I used Davinci Resolve and when I got the problem) - repaired the file and started Davinci Resolve OK.

helped directly
