Shooting a music video with the BMCC

PostFri Aug 23, 2013 5:00 am

I was asked to help shoot a music video for Yogi Lonich in Malibu, CA at El Matador state beach

It was too bright to see the LCD.. so I used a cowl, which worked great until it blew off..

I just ordered a Cineroid EVF so these shoots are way easier.

Good on ya mate. Glad you're having fun shooting with your camera. Looks like a great location.

Thanks Lorenzo! It was El Matador State Beach just north of Zuma and they've actually shot a lot of films there.. although access is pretty much a goat path down a cliff.. :)

Yeah, I'm from California and familiar with Zuma. Very cool. You're in Atlanta. We'll have to work on something together.

El Matador Beach? I have shot 2 Commercials and 5 photo shoots there, I recently shot a paid gig that was a Commercial shoot there. El Matador has a hell of a stair climb from the Parking lot to the Beach & Back, Better be prepared physically to climb it, and have your Cardio workout at it's max,you will need the oxygen to get to and from the beach :D

Darryl, Oh yes.. the climb back up from the beach.. ughhh..
LOL!! I limited my gear to a camera bag w/lenses and accessories, and my shoulder rig. the other guys had sandbags.. sliders.. speakers.. sound gear.. road cases.. etc.. I felt for them as they made trip after trip up that cliff.. but it's a beautiful location and I understand the permit was pretty inexpensive.
