slipping clip content

PostWed Feb 24, 2021 1:15 am

CUT PAGE

On page 454 in the manual it says "if you move the pointer over any clip in the timeline, a Slip handle appears in the centre of the clip. Dragging this handle lets you slip the content of that clip to present a different range of media without changing the position or duration of the clip."

I do not get a Slip handle to appear in the centre of the clip. Any suggestions as to why this is the case.

thanks

You need to have the Trim Edit Mode active (shortcut 'T') next to the Selection Mode arrow (shortcut 'A'). Then click and drag the image preview area of the clip in the timeline, not the clip name.

Umm... I just realized you asked about Cut Page. This is how you do it in Edit page. I suppose it's the same in the Cut page, I don't use that myself.

thanks for the tip. It seems to work following your suggestion.

I am working in Fairlight mode right now. A video appears in the upper right hand corner, but there is no
video track showing in the timeline. How does that happen? How do you make the video that I
am seeing in the upper right hand window appear in the timeline?

Also, how do you mute the audio in a video track to enable you to use other different audio (like music for example) to accompany the video track?

I figured out how to see the video clip that was missing. It was hidden in the fairlight mode, so I just changed the setting to see it. Also, as far as muting the audio in a video clip, I noticed that the audio file for the video clip is actually in the audio tracks, so you just mute it like anything else.

I believe the video tracks are intentionally hidden and locked in the Fairlight page so the sound editor doesn't accidentally change the picture edit.
