New 1.4.1 Update.

PostFri Aug 23, 2013 7:21 pm

Any one know if there's anything new for the BMCC cameras with the new update? Or is it mainly for the Pocket? I installed it on mine and went through all the menus. I saw on a post that one of the updates was SSD info but didn't see that. Was that just hear-say? thanks in advance!

Notes after Installation

1. When I did the update, and restarted the camera, I had some strange strobing going on at the center portion of the LCD. It was almost like the area that might be dedicated to the 4/3 or 16mm firmware, was running at a different rate or something. After a minute or two that seemed to disappear.

2. I did some very preliminary testing on sound, and it seems that "low end" missing in 1.3 and 1.4 may be back. This was only a brief test, and I would defer to someone like Chris Hocking to run his testing again, as it may be only that I had gotten used to the sound that was coming out of the camera.

Flickering of the screen after a firmware update is normal and its documented in the read me. Nothing to worry about. :-)

I'll try do some tests on Monday.

I'm still running whatever the shipping firmware was on the Pocket - so it'll be interesting to see how things compare with each update. However, as far as I knew based on the feedback I've read is that the Pocket NEVER actually had the frequency response issue that the BMC currently has on 1.3 and above. That said - I haven't actually tested this out personally.

The Pocket is a challenging camera to test, as it has no Thunderbolt interface, so you can't use UltraScopes for calibration. I wonder if there's a reliable audio signal on the HDMI output? Ummm... Will test that as well hopefully on Monday.

Just had a brief look at it, but it looks like we can pull the levels back to 30% again.

Frank, do you think it's a return to the 1.2 firmware where an offset is required or do you think it's good to go now?

Have to look deeper into it, but I'm busy with other stuff. Next couple of days maybe - sorry.
