Pocket Camera with Canon lens

PostSat Aug 24, 2013 1:06 pm

Im thinking of getting the pocket camera but I don't have a lot of Lenses in fact I only have Canon lenses which are the 50mm f1.8, and 24-105mm f4L and a canon lens baby composer.

Do I need a EF to MFT adapter which has power for the 50mm lens? I know i would for the 24-105mm but there all over £300 would it be cheaper to buy a couple of Panasonic Lenses?

Canon lenses gave electronically controlled apertures. So if you want to use Canon lenses you'll need an adaptor that can power them. As you've discovered they are not cheap.

The sensor in the BMPCC is a lot smaller that a Canon DSLR sensor so the Canon lenses are not really ideal. Using a 50mm on the BMPCC would be like shooting with a 144mm on a 5D. You would be better of with lenses designed for a smaller sensor.

So many to choose from. All depends on your needs.

For a single "do it all" lens I'd look at the Panasonic 12-35 f/2.8 (on my shopping list)

For lowlight work I'd look at the Voitlander 17.5 & 25 f/0.95 and the SLRMagic 12mm f/1.6

Then there is the option of using the Metabones Speedbooster. The Nikon version would allow you to use many great classic Nikkor AI and AS-S primes or Carl Zeiss ZF/ZF.2 primes along with many other Nikon mount lenses. This will be my my set-up.

Then there are various classic 16 & Super16 lenses in C-mount, Arri B and PL mount you could look at.
