Trouble opening large DR16 project in DR17

PostThu Mar 04, 2021 3:37 pm

I recently upgraded from DR16 to DR17. I'm able to open projects on the new database, but there's one that's giving me trouble. It begins loading and stops at 58%, DR CPU usage hitting up to 900%. Have let it run for 30 minutes with no progress.

Steps taken so far:
Exported the project and re-imported it.
Also have imported the project into a second DB, disconnected the volume with the project media.

Logs attached.

Here's how I imported a large 16 project into 17 after import database failed:

In 16 I exported my project as a DRP

In 16 I created a new database.

In 17 I updated the new 16 database

In 17 I imported the DRP

It worked but:

1) A few subclips on the timeline had the wrong sound. If that happens to you you need to copy the clips to a new timeline, export a drt and import it. That process removes the sub-clip reference and references the master clip. Then paste the corrected sound back into your timeline.

2) a lot of double system clips needed to be synced again. And continues to require resyncing from time to time.
