Point to Original .wav

PostTue Mar 02, 2021 3:57 pm

Is there any way to make resolve decompose the clip audio to the original audio file? When exporting a xml there is only reference to the video clip (which in turn is linked to the audio in resolves media bin) but of course the reference to the link is nowhere to be found. Can this somehow be changed in the timeline, so that there is simply the original audio there as if I had never linked it by sync audio?

This will depend on the workflow - Auto Align via the Timeline or Auto Sync via the Media Pool?

Are you wanting to access the original audio data or rather the source Clip name only?

You can still use the source name via Clip Attributes > Name > Clip Name
Type %SourceName in the Clip Name field

or enable:
Project Settings > General Options > Conform Options > Assist using reel names

Clip Attributes > Name > Clip Name
Set Reel Name Using: Source file name

Ensure the following menu items are enabled:
View > Show File Names
View > Show Synced Audio File Names

In terms of export, it depends on the destination.

For example, an EDL or Final Cut XML will be of little use in Nuendo or Pro Tools using their Field Recorder workflows and a third party tool such as EdiLoad will be required.

There are also limitations in how Nuendo handles metadata from MXF files, so an AAF deliverable may have to use broadcast wave files, or again, use EdiLoad to generate a new AAF.

Would ediload work for assembling with the original field recorder data? Can I use it to also fetch timecoded plant recorders (or lab recorders that are not transmitting)?

Yes. Details are available on the Ediload site with requirements and limitations.

Editload would export to pro tools audio metadata with sync clip in davinci??!!! Exporting just aaf or xml from davinci? this is an incredible news if it's true. I searched on their site if the mention davinci but I haven't find anything... it's expensive but if can solve the pro tools export with davinci is ok for me. But I'm not sure if it's still a dream...
