I don't even know what question to ask really. I opened Davinci Resolve 16 on my Windows 10 machine today and I got a notification for an update to 17. I have never had problems with updates before, so I just hit update. I got a message on that the C++ Redistributable wouldn't install. Nothing I did would resolve that. Version 17 updated.
I wasn't given an option to rollback or anything. I had to close the installer. I knew that I had the C++ Redistributable installed from Visual Studio so I just tried to open it. No message. It starts with the splash screen and then just fails. No messages. Nothing. I tried things on this forum that I found. Nothing has worked.
I don't even know where to start. I don't think I can rollback to Version 16 because I did not backup my database. I know that was dumb, but like I said, I've never had a problem with an update before. Where do I even start?
I'm having the same problem with the free version. Davinci installs without the Visual C++ component (fails to install this). When I start Davinci Resolve 17, it asks for an activation key and I can't get through it! Any advice?

Thank you!
If its asking for the activation key, you have installed the Studio version.
