Time Limitation on the Beta

PostSun Mar 07, 2021 1:50 am

I am using DaVinci Resolve Beta 17.1B Build 21. Just made a video that should be 18 minutes. It only exports 6 seconds. Is there a limit on the length of what a video can be for the free version?

No limit. You or the system is doing something wrong.

Ok, thanks. For some reason it only rendered one 6 second clip out of 18 minutes. I'll have to figure it out. I had to switch to Premiere in the meantime.

Maybe posting info as detailed in the FAQs above will help

Could it be that you have set some In and Out on the Deliver timeline inadvertently?
Tap option/alt X and try to render again.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

It's a MBP 16, 16gb ram, 6 core i7, 4gb AMD 5300, 500gb SSD running Big Sur. The funny thing is I normally set the video to 30fps and when I do a quick export, it shows 24fps. It only exports one segment a third of the way through and that is a picture with text effects. Something isn't right. At this point, I've done it in Premiere, so it's done. I'll have to see if it happens again on the next video.

That was it, but tapping the option key didn't fix it. I had to do it manual in the deliver window/page. Still though, it's set to 24fps. I never use that.

The biggest mistake I made after switching from Premiere Pro was thinking that my previous experience meant I could just jump into a new NLE without difficulty.

Nope.

As a new user, your first course of action should be to complete some Resolve training. The Beginner's Guide and Advanced Editing are an excellent groundwork to get you moving smoothly. ;)

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Resolve defaults to 24fps unless you tell it otherwise.

I will tell it otherwise as I had in other videos. I am not sure why this particular one went 24fps. The other thing is PNG's added were 24fps, but the videos were 30. Odd as hell. Anyway, it's done.
