Basic Questions about Fusion Connect

PostTue Mar 09, 2021 3:08 pm

I use Avid MC for editing (streaming TV & features). I am looking for a more powerful VFX tool that will integrate with MC.

So I've been experimenting with Fusion from within Resolve. I love the nodal model -- it fits the way I think much better than After Effects' layers.

I'd like to try out Fusion Connect, but I gather that a) this only works with Fusion, not Resolve, and b) there's no longer a free version of Fusion.

So I'm going to have to buy Fusion just to experiment with it. And if I recommend it to my post people, they will have to ante up for many Fusion licenses, something they're going to resist.

Any suggestions about how I experiment at a lower cost? And is there any way to use Resolve rather than Fusion?

Thanks --

There's a free version of Fusion from 2018 still available if you scroll down far enough. (Version 9)

Might be worth it for testing.

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Fantastic. Many thanks. Downloading now. I'll experiment with that.
