They might look different but the basic principals remain the same. If you have the Inspector open you will only see one picture window. To switch between the Preview and Timeline windows use the Q key on your keyboard. You can also set it to only display one picture window all the time.

Also, some of the dividing lines between sections of the screen can be moved to create more or less space. If you hover the mouse curser over a line that can be moved it will change to this icon.

If you click on it and hold the mouse button down you will be able to move the divider.

A good way to find out what things do is to create a dummy project with maybe two video clips, and click on the various icons etc to see what they do.
In my pics ignore the green faders. That just means that they have automation enabled on them.
