no sound in DR, but render has sound

PostSun May 19, 2019 5:56 am

I've had this issue for a while now and can't seem to figure it out. I went to other video editors but they all pale in comparison to DR.

I have 15.0.0.088.

I am sure this is my fault and not a bug. In the middle of a project the sound suddenly stopped.
I rendered it and there is sound. But not while I am inside of the program. Meters are not moving when there is playback but i do have a waveform in the audiotrck.I don't have the universal audio muted, nor is the individual track muted. When I move audio to a different track, there still is no audio.

I've moved to several other video editors but I can't deal with them. I need DR!! please help!

thank you

System spec would assist.

Is there any particular reason you have remained on 15.0.0.088?

The most current version is 15.3.1 and the list of additions and improvements is significant.

Yes, my laptop specs cannot handle the newer versions. I cannot play a clip in realtime unfortunately.

On the right hand side of the Edit and Render pages is a volume control. Make sure the speaker icon is in white and not red, and the slider is all the way to the right and green.

Also check the pull down menu Davinci Resolve --> Preferences which pops up a dialog box, click the "Video and Audio I/O" tab and check the Speaker Configuration settings.

Also check your Windows 10 Settings --> System --> Sound --> Advanced Sound Options to make sure that Windows hasn't muted the DaVinci Resolve application.

you are a god! this did it! thank you so much.
what I don't understand is, I NEVER have even opened the preferences dialogue before. So I wonder how this happened?? I doubt that I pressed a wrong key and turned this off in the preferences..

I have v16 and I have this exact same issue. I've followed the recommendations suggested, but still no dice.

I cannot hear the audio in Resolve but after rendering the video, the sound is there.

This is extremely frustrating and I don't know what else to do here.

Sound comes from every other app on my laptop. So its not an issue with my laptop speakers or headset.

Not sure what else to do here...........

Have you by any chance muted the audio here?

On Windows using the built in Realtek soundcard, these are my settings in Preferences-Video & Audio I/O.

Thanks. I was able to figure it out. If I'm using my BT headset (which works for every single application on laptop), I don't get any sound. If I turn off and disconnect my BT headset, the sound in Resolve is now there coming from my laptop speakers. Its not ideal, but at least its no longer a showstopper.

I wish I knew why it doesn't work with my headset while all other applications work fine with the headset.

Bluetooth headsets cause a conflict with Resolve, hence the problem.
