Some Photoshop (PSD) files show as "media offline"

PostFri Jul 12, 2019 3:19 pm

Much to my delight, I discovered I could import PSD files directly into Resolve without first having to convert them to PNG. Then much to my chagrin, it only seems to work with some of my PSDs. I have not been able to discern the cause. The usual suspects (8- vs 16-bit, RGB vs CMYK, compatibility mode, embedded image preview, etc.) are all identical between the files. Third-party viewers that rely on the embedded preview are all able to view the images.

I can provide the original PSD files for analysis. I'm running 16beta6, Photoshop CS6, Windows 10 Pro 1803 (17134.799, 64-bit).

Hey! I'm having this exact problem. Any updates?

To be fair, I just downloaded and started using Resolve. I'm wondering because I've gotten very used to using PSD files in Premiere for all my images. It just seems easy to make my layers and change things as needed, so I would love to keep doing that. Thanks!

Have you completed any training for Resolve, Jason? That's usually the best place to start with software at this level.

That said, if you're able to share a PSD file, we can test for you, see what happens on other systems.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
