Wipe timeline clip

PostSun Mar 07, 2021 3:16 pm

Hi all.
I think I am being incredibly dumb, but for the life of me I can not work out how to use a reference wipe
for two clips whilst on the edit page! It is fine on the colour page but when I go to the edit page I get no wipe timeline clip in the contextual menu and all split screen and wipe options are greyed out in the top menu drop downs. I am using Resolve 17 studio, Thanks in advance.

I don't believe this feature works on the Edit page.

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Thanks for responding.

How strange.
Surely when editing, lining up frames and re re racks this is where it would really come in handy.

Resolve was originally basically Media, Color, and Deliver and wipes are critical for Color work. Color has Stills, clip-oriented display, etc, so what you're wiping between is well-defined.

It would be useful in Edit, but would have to be added. (Not necessarily trivial to add features from one page into another.)

No I totally get it and do not get me wrong I am finding Resolve a mazing.
I come from a Flame background and its the closest software I have used to Flame in terms of functionality
and ease of use speed etc etc and it came free with my camera!
I have actually stopped using Nuke Studio in favour of Resolve. I lose the interoperability with Nuke
but the timeline just works and its all so dang intuitive......mostly....
I am seriously looking at Fusion now.

Fusion Studio 17 works with a key for Resolve Studio 17. So if you have Resolve Studio -- which I think you got with the camera, you can use Fusion Studio 17 for free. It's a sweet deal!

EDIT: Oh, I see you already know this from a different thread. I'll leave this comment here for others. It is a sweet deal.

It really is!

And I have to admit I was snobbish about both bits of software due to their freeness?
You live and learn eh.
Super impressed. What I did not know is that Fusion was developed by a different company, so BMD
have done an amazing job of integrating them so seamlessly.

Thanks for the info.

Think about it: Resolve was Media, Color, Deliver. They added Fusion (another company), they added Fairlight (another company), they added Edit (I assume from another company, but don't know), they added Cut (their own version). It's stunning, really.

Heck, they're more integrated than Adobe's product line. Heck, I abandoned Premiere back in the day when they still had a mixture of 1980/1990's looking filter interfaces mixed with 2000-looking interfaces. I did software development for many years and I am in awe of BMD's developers.

There's precedence for that, so it's understandable.

BMD sort of breaks that mold a bit.
