Fusion tab is crashing in Resolve Studio

PostWed Mar 10, 2021 11:51 pm

I saw this on both 17 and 17.1, and can recreate it every time - Open new project, drop a fusion comp to the timeline, hit the fusion tab. From there, Davinci locks up and windows asks me to quit or wait. Waiting doesn't work.

Anything I can do about this?

What Fusion comp?

It would be helpful if you could send a Resolve log and a Windows System Information .NFO file.

After a crash, restart Resolve, open a new project, and select the Resolve Help menu: Create Diagnostics Log on Desktop,

Open System Information and do a File - Save to save the .NFO file.

If the Fusion comp is not something included in Resolve, it would be helpful to have that as well.

Hm, info file seems to be too large to upload... Is there something specific I can show you?

Open a new project, Select "Fusion Composition" from the Effects Library and drag it to the timeline. Click the Fusion tab. Crash. My goal here was to import a 3D file in - perhaps I'm going about it wrong?

Here's a video of it in action:

OK, so you are on the Edit page of a new project, and you are dragging the Fusion Composition from the Effects area onto the timeline. Correct? There was no timeline until you dragged the Fusion Composition onto it?

And it's immediately crashing to the desktop when you do that? Or is it hanging? There are no crash dumps, so it sort of looks like it's hanging.

I've tried this on a Windows system with an NVIDIA GPU, and a Windows system with an AMD GPU.

But I don't have the RX 5700 XT that you are using.

Yes - sorry, it's hanging. I think I might have found a solution by Resetting the layout of the Fusion tab. Requires more testing! I'll try to update here if that ends up being a solve.

I have a similar problem. When I open Davinci Resolve and try to add a fusion Transition, the program crashes immediately.

Make it crash again and after the crash, restart Resolve and load a project or start a new project, then in the Resolve Help menu, select "Create Diagnostics Log on Desktop" and send us the log file it creates on your Desktop.
