Computer very laggy with Resolve

Hi all,

I hope someone can help me. When I edit what seems to be pretty simple comps in Fusion, my computer gets seriously laggy and sometimes just freezes. I've done all the things that help stuttery playback - timeline Proxy Mode to Quarter Res., Generate OPtimized Media, etc. That helps a little bit...

Here are my questions:
1.)Can someone please help pinpoint the bottleneck in the system? Can this be fixed with upgrades?
Here's my system:

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-1620 v3 @ 3.50GHz 3.50 GHz
16.0 GB ram
Nvidia Quadro K2200 - 4 gb

(One tech I spoke to said it wasn't my GPU, since, during the lags, the task manager performance was below 30%(I'm not sure if that is even a correct indicator))

2.) Do I just need to get a new computer?

your cpu is ancient, I doubt it's good enough for resolve.

i think that's your biggest issue.

I have similar problems with performance in Fusion Compositions.
I'm of the opinion that Resolve is not very efficient, your CPU is not the latest but still a decent one.
I have huge performance issues during playback of simple Fusion Comps containing just images, Text+ nodes and so on (a "Power Point like" composition).
CPU usage rarely goes above 50%, GPU rarely above 20%.

CPU: Xeon E3-1545M v5
GPU: NVIDIA Quadro P4000
