Grades are different when updating to Resolve 17 (update)

PostTue Mar 16, 2021 2:00 pm

Hello,

just an update to my recent post, because I was able to narrow down the issue.
The issue happens when updating from Resolve 16 to Resolve 17.
The grades in Resolve 17 look different after the update. It is mostly slight shifts in brightness. Sometimes more and sometimes less, depending on the project.
I tried to add just one node with only gamma correction in a Resolve 16 project. In this case the grade is unchanged when updating to Resolve 17.
As soon as I add any further nodes and corrections, the grades are different in Resolve 17.

Can someone confirm this issue?

The changes are in most of my projects quite subtle, so I could only see the difference by rendering the project in Resolve 16 and import the render again after the update to Resolve 17. In this way I was able to compare the versions side by side. It was only in one project, where the difference was quite obvious at first glance, thats when I started to investigate this further.

I tried many things and don't think the issue is my system or anything else, except the nodes themselves.
However any confirmation or disconfirmation would be helpful!

Cheers,
Armin

Hi. Can you please send us a sample project which can show the most prominent differences for you?

Hi!

I made a sample project, where the difference is prominent. Here is the link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

I created the project in Resolve 16.2.8. Then I updated to Resolve 17.1 and upgraded the database. After the update the grade is slightly darker, which is also reflected in the Scopes (see Screenshots).
