Technique for softness on one edge

PostMon Mar 22, 2021 4:03 pm

Any suggestions for generating softness (similar to the negative softness parameter with cropping that affects all four edges even when only one is cropped) along *one* edge of a clip? The goal is to transition to black along that edge, and preferably via the Edit page.

I can achieve this in Fusion, or on the Color page using a power window positioned across the clip's edge of interest, on a node with a very negative exposure, with the power window's softness widened along one of its edges to form the gradient. But I wondered if there are other less clicks/drags way to get there.

Thanks!

An Edge Wipe with a Boarder and some Feather will do it.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
