Deinterlacing problems

PostWed Mar 24, 2021 6:39 am

Now that the deinterlacing option has been removed from the clip attributes, I'm getting horribly interlaced images on my progressive timeline.

I must be doing something wrong. I don't see other people complaining here. But I'm getting kinda desperate. Tried setting the new high quality neural engine deinterlace on and rendering with optical flow. Nope.

Am I missing a switch somewhere? I read the New Features manual. The 16 manual is wrong. It used to be so simple. Just turn on deinterlace and it worked.

It seems wrong to have to deinterlace the clips outside of Resolve now, but I think I'll have to do that.

Now what?

what video codec are you using and where does the footage come from?

when its an interlaced clip and it is defined as one in the clips metadata, resolve should deinterlace automatically.

if its not, you can still tell it to in the clip attributes. just select the right field order.

Is DR17 interpreting your fooatge correctly? Check field dominance in Media Pool. And try to toggle that interpretation in clip attributes, just to check if you get a different result in the timeline.
Alternatively, you might have to set up two projects, one interlaced and one progressive, to be able to pre-process your footage accordingly.
