Copy/Paste bug 17.0 (?)

PostThu Mar 25, 2021 11:33 am

Hi all,
Have you also experienced this bug in version 17.0?

I am on a OS X system. Just upgraded to Resolve 17.0 Studio. I use cmd+C and cmd+V I copy and paste a node from clip to clip.
The node is selected, and when I click cmd+V it copies not only that node, but the whole grade.

The behaviour is erratic, most of the times working fine, and from time to time copying the whole grade instead of just the specific node. I have had it in 2 different projects, both with Blackmagic RAW footage, although I guess codec has nothing to do with it.

Anyone else?

It’s deliberate (although don’t ask me about the logic behind that decision because I hate it!)

You have to have your mouse curser hovering over the node you want to paste into. Doing that will paste only the node you copied.

This really defeats the purpose of Switching clips selects same node combined with a fixed node tree structure when you want to apply quickly a change to a set of shots

Indeed. I also question the logic of having keyboard shortcuts that require us to keep our hands on the mouse. It completely defeats the purpose.

We can now use just the keyboard to go through clips and Copy/Paste whole grades. Previous to this change, we had to use a mouse.

I like the new feature.

But BMD gave us a way to disable it in 17.1

You could do that already with Memories though. What’s the benefit of this new behaviour? I think I’m missing something.

Good to know it can be turned off anyway!

I didn't know about Memories.

The benefit is that we can navigate through the clips and Copy/Paste whole grades from one to another using the familiar Copy/Paste shortcuts.

I think you’ll find that Memories are a much better way to do this. You can save up to 8 separate grades using shortcuts (Alt+1, Alt+2 etc) and apply them to shots using shortcuts (CMD+1, CMD+2 etc).

I think there must be a little more to this new copy/paste behaviour but I’m not really seeing the benefit myself.

Well, you're not alone. That's why BMD gave us the option to disable it. ;)

Oh this is great news that it can be disabled!
However, on my 17.0 mac version this option cannot be found in the menu
