v17.1 - title colors & opacity not working?

PostThu Mar 25, 2021 4:01 pm

Ugraded to 17.1 earlier this week. I'm having trouble getting Title colors to work in edit mode. I can get color to change only by clicking the color box which opens the OS color picker (the picker within Resolve does nothing). But what I can't control at all is the opacity. Even though the color box shows opacity next to it, I have no way of selecting an opacity.

My example: I'm using the "text box swipe in lower third" title. By default the box is white and the text is transparent. I'm trying to get the text to be opaque black.

The only thing I could do was go into Fusion mode and use the color picker there. I selected the box color that was 100% opaque white, which seemed to get the opacity to change, but then when I change the color back to black, it ignores the color completely, leaving the text white on white... making it invisible.

Is this a bug?

On the Color Picker, I'm not sure if that's a bug, or a feature that was disabled in the Fusion Title. (When you create these Fusion effects from scratch, you can choose which parameters are editable on the Edit page.)
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

You can see that the Text+ node is being used as a mask for the Background node, the output of the Text+ is going into the blue Effect Mask input on the Background node, which is why the text is turning to white instead of black as you intended.

Thanks for your reply. You're right! I did more digging in Fusion and found this out too. Confession, I've basically never used Fusion, so it took me some time to navigate and drill down to find where this was happening. It's probably a crude solution, but I was able to get what I want by duplicating the group, adjust the colors & opacity of the one and merging them. I'm sure there's a better way involving changing the way the masking behaves, but I couldn't figure it out.

I'm glad you got it working, but there was an easier way. You can just remove the Box Color Background node and change the text color to black.
