R16.2.8 Crashing due to collaboration? Frequency increasing

PostWed Mar 24, 2021 11:25 pm

Hi all,

We are seeing an increased frequency in crashes and it appears to be linked to Collaboration but I cannot confirm this is 100% the cause. We use a combination of Mac and PC workstations running DR16.2.8 all on the same internal network. Our media and PostgreSQL database reside on an SNS EVO shared project/media storage server.

When we switch off Collaboration, the crash frequency drops significantly (from 6 times per day to 1 every other day) but there are the occasional crashes which we have come to expect from DR.

Please find link to crash log for anyone that may be able to help.

I would love to resolve this before moving to DR17 - if anyone can share some insights we would be very appreciative.

Cheers
Dean

Are you using separate networks for your storage media traffic and your PostgreSQL traffic?

Nope, same network, reckon this is a problem?

If ur really on v15 as per your post footer, or 16 as per ur post title, you need to update to v17 as there are dozens of improvements in collaboration in that release

Definitely advise to separate them out. Despite the PostgreSQL traffic not taking up much data, there can be weird hangs if the traffic is competing with large media files coming through.

Yes, we did wonder about this. We do have a 10Gb connection and SNS assure us there shouldn't be any service interruption but they may not have had the opportunity to test it under the same amount of load that we put it under. The EVO is an impressive piece of kit and we paid a lot for it, so I may see if they can dive deeper into this problem - thanks so much for your advice.
