opening in safe mode or finding the original project file?

PostMon Mar 29, 2021 4:28 am

Hello,

I've been working on a video for youtube that is "due" tomorrow. I had about a half hour left and my laptop crashed. Cannot get it started unless I go into safe mode.

I tried to start DR 15.3 (the version I am using) in safe mode, but it won't load past the fairlight section.
Is there a way to use DR in safe mode?

if that is not an option, I would like to find the project file and transfer it over to my desktop and try finishing the video over there. But I did some research and it seems it is not as easy as grabbing one file from a folder?

If you're using the default database with Resolve, see this FAQ for the location. Otherwise, search in File Explorer for a folder called "Resolve Projects" to find your disk database path.

Please note that before starting on the insturctions below, ensure that your Resolve versions match - or your Desktop has a more recent version.

Copy the folder above "Resolve Projects" as a whole to the desktop (to let's say C:/Users/Jim/My Resolve DBs/).
Now the following path should be present:
C:/Users/Jim/My Resolve DBs/Resolve Disk Database/Resolve Projects/Users/guest/Projects/

In this computer, from the project manager, enable the left tab and select "New Database" (at the bottom).
The dialog shows options to connect or create - choose Connect.
Add a name - say "jim_laptop".
Add the path above "Resolve Projects" - here: C:/Users/Jim/My Resolve DBs/Resolve Disk Database/.
Click Connect.

You may be prompted to update the database - after which you should see your projects.
