Nice improvement on m1 Mac (17.1.1)

PostWed Mar 31, 2021 9:09 am

Release 17.1.1 fixed the problems with h264 422 10 bit on Apple M1, there are still a bit of stuttering (both h265 an h264) but I think with some bit of tuning BM will make DaVinci Resolve Studio really smooth on M1 (without transcoding, as FCP actually do). Good one!

Still having the same problems with 17.1.1 as with all of the other versions of 17.

Thought it was my machine that didn't have the capacity to handle DR (Old machine i7,4 core, 16G Ram, 4 G Video), so bought a new machine (Dell 8940 i9, 10 core, 64G Ram, 6G Video, all SSD's).

This is the only program that I have had any problems on with either machine.

Now the same problems happen...only faster.

I can't be the only person having these problems.

I am not working on a feature film, but a project that is 8 minutes long with moderate fusion.

The most constant frustration is the media offline line of png files that I have to constantly delete and reinstall into the media pool.

As I make copies under different names to protect prior work, the new version experiences the bugger media offline problem, even if I run the project over and over again to get it into the cache. Sometimes it works without doing this and sometimes I have to go to the last working version and same it under a different project name...and maybe it will function. Until the next time.

After spending a couple of thousand dollars, it seems that maybe I should just give up on DR, and use another program. A simple project that should have been done two weeks ago is constantly stalled by program errors...extremely frustrating.

Does anyone have a solution?

Would appreciate any input.
