Resolve 17 green dots and then crash

I'm having a problem wherein Resolve 17.1 (build 24) randomly puts green dots on the screen and crashes... doesn't seem to be related to a specific action... any ideas what could be causing it?

System specs
AMD TR 3970
MSI 3090
128Gb ram
GEN 4 NVME media storage

Sounds like a bad GPU.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.
